Mesacure Company to Supply Facial Recognition Technology to KB Kookmin Bank's 'Overseas Citizen Electronic Passport Identity Verification Service'

Mesacure Company , an AI-based biometric solution company, announced on the 26th that it has supplied facial recognition technology to KB Kookmin Bank's 'Overseas Citizen Electronic Passport Identity Verification Service'.

This service is a function that allows overseas nationals to obtain certificates remotely through the KB Kookmin Bank Star Banking application, and Mesacure Company’s real-time facial recognition technology is applied. Users take a picture of the information page of their electronic passport with their smartphone or register the passport chip information with the NFC function, and then take a picture of their face to check if it matches the passport photo. In this process, Mesacure Company’s AI facial recognition technology plays a role in verifying identity.

The number of overseas Koreans is currently estimated at around 7.5 million, and there were restrictions on using domestic digital services due to the absence of non-face-to-face authentication methods after the abolition of the public certificate system. With the introduction of this service, overseas Koreans can now receive certificates without having to visit a domestic mobile phone or overseas diplomatic mission, and use various digital services such as e-government, electronic finance, telemedicine, and online education.

Kookmin Bank is strengthening its non-face-to-face identity verification system through this service, and this identity verification method will be expanded to other electronic signature service providers and services in the future.

Mesacure Company CEO Lee Ji-hoon said, “I think it is meaningful to be able to contribute to allowing overseas Koreans to use various domestic digital services more conveniently,” and “We will continue to do our best to provide safe and reliable identity verification technology.”
