Otech, a company specializing in manufacturing special purpose vehicles, announced on the 25th that it has developed a new model through a national project to develop a military standard ambulance.
Through this national project, Otech has completed two patents and one design (design) application. The developed military standard ambulance is expected to be in gradual demand across the military, including the Army, starting in 2026, and the annual demand for commercial special ambulances is expected to be approximately 230 units. Accordingly, Otech has established a mass production system and is preparing for full-scale mass production.
In addition, we have completed the development of an export model to enter overseas markets, and we plan to simultaneously advance into the global market through collaboration with the special business division of domestic company A and general trading companies.
In addition, Otech was selected as a national project implementation company for the development of electric vehicle-based welfare vehicles in July 2024, and is currently developing the vehicle with a total budget of 2 billion won over a period of approximately 42 months. The goal of the welfare vehicle is to secure both eco-friendliness and practicality by utilizing an electric vehicle-based platform.
Otech is also making policy proposals to expand demand for welfare vehicles. It is discussing the introduction of welfare vehicle purchase subsidies through consultation with the National Assembly Health and Welfare Committee, and if this proposal is promoted, it is expected that additional support for welfare vehicle modification costs will be possible in addition to the consumption tax exemption of up to 5 million won currently in effect under the existing Welfare for the Disabled Act.
An official from Otech Group said, “The national project of a military standard ambulance and an electric vehicle-based welfare vehicle signifies technological innovation in the field of special vehicle solutions,” and added, “We will continue to strengthen our competitiveness in domestic and overseas markets based on our social responsibility and eco-friendly management.”
