Seoul Center Selects 32 Promising Local Creator Teams from Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon

The Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Young-geun) announced that it held an orientation on the 23rd for 32 small business owners (teams) in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon) who were finally selected for the 'Local Creator Development Project' that supports the growth of promising local creators.

The 'Local Creator Development Project' is a nationwide commercialization support project overseen by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and managed by the Small Business Market Promotion Agency, and the Seoul Creative Economy Innovation Center is in charge of operating the metropolitan area (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon). This project fosters small business owners with commercialization potential based on innovative ideas based on the natural and cultural characteristics of the region as local creators.

The orientation held on this day included various sessions to increase understanding of the overall business and to help with initial preparation. Participants received guidance on the annual business schedule, introduction to support programs, and education on business fund execution procedures and precautions. A special session was also held in which CEO Bae Tae-kwan of Oysterable, a senior startup company, shared his practical experience and business insights.

This year, a total of 32 local creator teams were selected in the metropolitan area, as follows:

The selected teams will be provided with commercialization funds for business advancement (up to 40 million won for individuals, up to 70 million won for collaborations), demand-based entrepreneurship education and mentoring, networking between leading companies, investors, and local creators, festival programs such as Local Week and Integrated Festa, and other related programs such as Startup Village workspace support and autonomous district entrepreneurship schools will also be provided.

Lee Young-geun, head of the Seoul Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, said, “We plan to provide support in various ways so that the local creator teams selected in the metropolitan area can develop innovative business models based on local resources and become entrepreneurial small business owners,” adding, “We will drive sustainable growth through connections with various regional startup ecosystems.”
