Point Mobile announced on the 22nd that it signed a 10 billion won contract to supply the 'TR54', an automobile certification diagnostic equipment, with EZDS, a company specializing in automobile diagnostic equipment. 'TR54' was created based on the technological prowess and product competitiveness that Point Mobile has accumulated in the tablet PC market, and is a high-spec product that satisfies the Japanese government's strict technical standards.
With this, Point Mobile, a specialized industrial mobile device company, will formalize its entry into Japan's 61 trillion won automobile diagnostic market and strengthen its position as a global diagnostic solution provider.
Point Mobile has been actively entering the industrial tablet PC market since 2023, and has been developing high-performance industrial tablet products based on large displays in addition to its existing mobile computer and barcode scanner product lines. This TR54 is one of the key results of that strategy.
The TR54 has specifications optimized for the automotive diagnostic environment, including ▲11-inch display ▲45° angled barcode scanner ▲Android 15 operating system ▲durability to withstand 1.2/1.5m drops. In particular, it was designed to meet the vehicle diagnostic equipment standards set by the Japanese government, and was evaluated as a product suitable for Japanese automobile repair shops and inspection agencies with strict inspection systems.
The expansion of the tablet PC portfolio not only added synergy to this project, but is also expected to serve as a springboard for future expansion into the European and North American markets.
Point Mobile and EZDS established a cooperative relationship by signing a contract to supply domestic automobile diagnostic equipment worth 15 billion won in 2022. Over the next three years, the two companies jointly developed the TR54 product for the Japanese market through technology development and product customization.
Through this contract, EZDS will supply TR54 to the automobile maintenance market throughout Japan using its local network, while Point Mobile will be responsible for manufacturing and technical support. In particular, TR54 is equipped with dedicated accessories jointly developed with EZDS, enhancing the product’s completeness with a configuration tailored to the Japanese market.
Point Mobile has been consistently supplying mobile terminals exclusively for logistics warehouses under a $200 million supply contract with Amazon, the world's largest e-commerce company, in 2019. Through this, it has proven its technological prowess and production capabilities that meet the quality standards of large global customers, and this know-how has been fully reflected in the TR54 project.
Point Mobile has also entered the domestic and international defense industry, supplying highly durable defense/disaster safety network terminals that can be used for military purposes. It is also expanding its business area to the military industry and special markets through products that meet U.S. defense standards, such as satellite communications, secure communication modules, and extreme environment tests.
A Point Mobile official said, “The TR54 is a strategic product that goes beyond simple terminal supply and combines our capabilities in the tablet PC market with global industry-specific customization technology.” He added, “Through this contract, we will expand our presence not only in the Japanese market but also into global diagnostic equipment demand sources such as North America, Europe, and the Middle East.”
