Green Umbrella Children's Foundation , a child welfare organization, announced that it signed a business agreement with Gangnam-gu to promote the local donation campaign 'Give & Grow Green Gangnam, Our Neighborhood Green Donation Challenge'.
This agreement was created as part of public-private cooperation to promote a donation culture involving local residents, businesses, and organizations, and to spread ESG (environment, society, and governance) values to the local community, with the aim of expanding green space and improving the environment in the city center.
The 'Our Neighborhood Green Donation Challenge' is a campaign that is being promoted based on the voluntary donations of residents and businesses in Gangnam-gu. The donations raised will be used to improve the natural environment in the living areas, such as parks, green spaces, and rivers in Gangnam-gu. Through this, the goal is to create an environment where all local residents, including children, can enjoy nature and relaxation in their daily lives.
According to the agreement, Green Umbrella will be in charge of the overall operation of the campaign and green space creation projects, and Gangnam-gu will actively support it through providing target sites, administrative cooperation, and public relations for residents. Through this cooperation, the two organizations plan to establish a sustainable urban greening model jointly promoted by the public and private sectors.
Gangnam-gu Mayor Cho Seong-myeong said, “This agreement is in line with Gangnam-gu’s ESG administrative keynote and is a meaningful attempt to create green spaces in the city center together with residents.” He continued, “We will continue to promote the creation of a sustainable local community through various donation challenges where businesses, residents, and private organizations participate.”
Green Umbrella Chairman Hwang Young-ki said, “We hope that positive changes will naturally spread throughout the community through donations,” and added, “We will continue to realize social value through various social contribution models that connect children, the environment, and the community.”
