
Google Korea announced on the 22nd that it has appointed Vice President Sunghye Hwang as Head of Government Affairs & Public Policy. The new Vice President Sunghye Hwang will be in charge of all of Google Korea’s government affairs and policy-related work.
Vice President Hwang is an expert who has worked in foreign policy and communications for 30 years in media companies and global corporations, and has experience leading various foreign cooperation strategies at major companies.
Vice President Hwang Sung-hye led government health care policy-related work in the medical, pharmaceutical, vision, and consumer health business divisions of Johnson & Johnson Korea, a global healthcare company. Prior to that, she led the External Cooperation Department and Pharmaceutical Insurance Department at Pfizer Korea, contributing to strengthening patient access to innovative medicines and improving patients’ lives through cooperation with the government, media, patient groups, and associations.
Google Korea said, “We sincerely welcome the joining of Vice President Hwang Sung-hye, who has extensive expertise in external cooperation and a deep understanding of the industry, and we expect that she will play a large role in leading mutually cooperative relationships through continuous communication with the government and related industries in the areas of Google’s external cooperation and policies.”
Vice President Hwang Sung-hye also said, “I am delighted to join Google’s journey to achieve sustainable growth together with Google service users, partners, and local communities around the world,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen communication with various stakeholders and do our best to ensure that Google’s technology can have a positive impact on Korean society as a whole.”
Vice President Hwang graduated from Yonsei University's Department of Journalism and Broadcasting, received a master's degree in economics from Sogang University, a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from NEOMA Business School in France, and completed a doctoral program in journalism and broadcasting at Chung-Ang University.
