Rainbow Robotics Signs Business Agreement with CJ Korea Express

Rainbow Robotics , a robot platform specialist, announced that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with domestic logistics company CJ Logistics for the joint development of an ‘AI humanoid logistics robot.’ This agreement is the first AI-based humanoid logistics robot development project in Korea, and the two companies plan to implement an autonomous robot system optimized for logistics sites and promote phased commercialization.

The two companies plan to introduce robots sequentially to major logistics centers starting with verification tests in actual logistics centers from the end of this year. The goal is to develop an advanced robot system that goes beyond simple assistance to make independent judgments and perform tasks by combining Rainbow Robotics’ humanoid robot platform technology and CJ Korea Express’ agentic AI technology.

CJ Logistics analyzes manual processes in logistics sites and verifies the applicability of robots and technical efficiency through demonstrations. It also develops AI-based software to enhance interoperability and functions with Rainbow Robotics’ hardware platform.

Rainbow Robotics plans to provide a flexible robot solution that can respond without changing the logistics center structure based on its experience developing various robot products such as collaborative robots, mobile dual-arm robots, and autonomous mobile robots (AMR). Through this collaboration, the company plans to expand the robot ecosystem based on 'AI + humanoid' and expand the platform to various industrial fields such as manufacturing, healthcare, and service in the future.

CJ Logistics TES Logistics Technology Research Center Director Kim Jeong-hee said, “This collaboration goes beyond simple automation and is the first attempt to apply autonomous robots that use AI to make decisions and operate in logistics sites,” adding, “We will lead the next-generation logistics paradigm through the convergence of AI and robotics.”

“This agreement is a technological turning point for humanoid robots to function as actual workers,” said Jeong-Woo Huh, head of Rainbow Robotics’ research lab. “Based on our achievements in the logistics field, we will expand the humanoid platform to various industries.”
