Chiliz announced on the 17th that it has established a joint venture (JV) called 'SBI Chiliz' with SBI Digital Asset Holdings.
The two companies completed the establishment of the joint venture, SBI Chiliz, earlier this month, following a strategic partnership last year to expand Japanese sports fandom culture on a global scale. As a result, Japanese sports fans will have easier access to fan tokens for around 70 sports clubs that have partnered with Chiliz, including FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain FC, and Tottenham Hotspur.
Beyond the listing of fan tokens, SBI Chiliz plans to play a key role in connecting Japanese sports entertainment with the global market. It plans to pursue various projects to expand unique Japanese sports content to the global market, such as issuing fan tokens for professional sports teams in Japan, providing web3-based products and services, and blockchain solutions to expand sports fan experiences.
The vision and future plans of 'SBI Chiliz' were introduced in detail at the official side event of 'TEAMZ Web3/AI Summit 2025' held in Tokyo. The panel discussion session held on the 15th featured Max Rabinovitch, Chiliz's Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) and Koichi Kano, SBI Chiliz's CEO. The session discussed the topic of 'The Future of Sports Fandom' and how FanTokens are redefining the relationship between global sports fans and clubs through blockchain technology. In addition, opinions were exchanged on future business strategies such as changes in fan engagement, opportunities for tokenized communities, and challenges in the process of global expansion, as well as the outlook for the Web3 sports market.
Alexandre Dreyfus, CEO of Chiliz, said: “Sports is a representative content industry in Japan, and FanTokens can connect Japanese sports IP with the global market. Japanese fans will be able to participate more actively in the global Web3 sports ecosystem in the future.”
