National Assembly debate on 'improving the severe illness deduction system' to address confusion over the application of the disabled income deduction on the 17th

Jobis&Villains (CEO Yongsu Jeong and Juseok Baek), which operates the 'Tax Assistance Service for 20 Million Citizens' Samjyeonsam, announced on the 16th that it has established the policy research institute 'Samjyeonsam Research Lab' and appointed former National Assembly member Yibae Chae as its first director.

Samcheonsam, which has been at the forefront of improving taxpayers’ rights, has continuously considered the company’s social role under the goal of ‘increasing customer wealth.’ In addition to technological innovation to create simple and easy services, it has decided to strengthen its social voice for system improvement.

Samjwisam Research Lab draws on various tax issues faced by taxpayers to come up with various suggestions for policy innovation. It studies tax policies, data industries, startup ecosystems, and the overall socio-economics that are intertwined with Samjwisam and user experience.

The first director is former National Assembly member Chae I-bae. Director Chae, a certified public accountant, has been involved in numerous legislative activities, including tax justice, fair economy, and conflict of interest prevention, in the 20th National Assembly’s Political Affairs Committee, Legislation and Judiciary Committee, and Budget and Accounts Committee. He opposed the Tada Ban Act and emphasized the importance of consumer choice and innovation.

Director Chae said, “I joined Samcheongsam because I sympathize with its contribution to restoring taxpayer rights and enhancing tax understanding by increasing the convenience of tax reporting,” and “I will work to ensure that the Research Lab serves as a bridge with the external policy environment to lead to actual institutional improvements.”

Samjwimsam Research Lab will host a policy discussion on 'Improvement of the Deduction System for Patients with Rare and Incurable Diseases under the Income Tax Act' hosted by Rep. Kim Nam-hee and Rep. Oh Ki-hyung of the Democratic Party of Korea at the National Assembly Members' Hall on the 17th to coincide with the upcoming 'Day of Persons with Disabilities (20th)'. The discussion will examine the practical limitations and inconsistencies between laws and regulations in the application of income deductions for persons with disabilities that remain even after the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Income Tax Act in February, and discuss ways to improve them.
