Gyeongbuk Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Moon-rak, hereinafter referred to as Gyeongbuk Center) announced that it will recruit candidates for the 'Gyeongbuk TIPS (Technology Startup) Support Program' until May 11 to increase the success rate of excellent startup (venture) companies in the province and create a stable startup investment environment.
This recruitment is a project planned to drive the growth of promising local companies into unicorn companies through intensive support through linkages with private investment companies targeting technology-based startups. In particular, the role of the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center is emphasized as the official window for discovering local candidate companies for the TIPS project led by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) plans to support local startups to be selected for the 'Ministry of SMEs and Startups TIPS Project' through matching with TIPS operators through this recruitment.
TIPS (Tech Incubator Program for Startups) is a representative private investment-led technology startup support program operated by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. Its core goal is to discover promising startup teams through private operators such as successful ventures and to induce startups by highly skilled personnel by linking them with angel investment and government R&D funds.
In order to expand the fostering of TIPS-linked technology-based infrastructure, Gyeongbuk Center selected Korea University Technology Holding Co., Ltd., Daegyeong Regional University Joint Technology Holding Co., Ltd., Daedeok Venture Partners Co., Ltd., Venture Square Co., Ltd., Infobank Co., Ltd., and Genaxis Co., Ltd. as professional TIPS operators, and plans to provide various supports such as strengthening commercialization capabilities, concretizing business models, and providing commercialization grants through matching with candidate companies.
Up to 10 million won in business support funds will be provided to accelerate business growth, providing a practical foundation for the initial growth of companies.
The selection scale is 12 companies, and they are companies that can participate in the 2025 Ministry of SMEs and Startups TIPS project and are located in Gyeongbuk or are planning to relocate (establish) their headquarters, branches, or research institutes within Gyeongbuk.
The final selection of companies will be determined through document evaluation and presentation evaluation, and the selection results will be individually notified. After signing an agreement with the TIPS operator and center, the selected companies will carry out the business for TIPS selection.
Other recruitment announcements and detailed information can be found on the center's homepage, and inquiries can be made to the Investment Promotion Team (054-470-2631).
Meanwhile, in 2024, all 11 companies that participated in this program were finally selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ TIPS program, and they succeeded in attracting a total of over 3.4 billion won in investment. This is a case that practically proves the possibility that technology startups in the Gyeongbuk region can achieve rapid growth through private investment and government support.
Lee Moon-rak, CEO of Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center, said, “We will strengthen full-cycle support so that startups in the Gyeongbuk region can grow steadily from the initial stages of establishment to the commercialization stage based on their excellent technological prowess,” adding, “In particular, we will establish a systematic growth environment so that the region’s differentiated technologies can lead to tangible results in industrial sites.”
