Premium women's wellness brand Inercia (CEO Kim Hyo-yi) announced on the 11th that it will provide 19,008 packs of organic sanitary pads (worth approximately 190 million won) to 1,175 teenage girls in the Kampot region of Cambodia in cooperation with the child welfare organization Green Umbrella Children's Foundation (Chairman Hwang Young-ki).
Inercia is a premium women's wellness brand founded with the goal of adding technology to women's lives, and was co-founded by four female scientists from KAIST. During their research, the founders experienced the technological exclusion of products for women and took on the challenge of the feminine care sector to scientifically improve products that directly touch women's bodies.
Their flagship product, the organic cotton sanitary pad 'The Prism', contains 'Labocell™', a natural absorbent material developed by Inercia. Labocell is a plant-derived material that replaces existing absorbents based on microplastics, and is a technology that effectively absorbs and coagulates only blood without irritating the skin. Through an 8-week clinical trial conducted by the German dermatological research institute Dermatest led by gynecologists and dermatologists, The Prism proved excellent results such as ▲100% no unpleasant scent ▲100% no irritation to skin and genitals ▲95% feeling safer than existing products, earning the highest rating of EXCELLENT 5-star. It has established itself as a premium technology sanitary pad in the market, recording accumulated sales of 13 billion won in just two years since the start of full-scale sales.
CEO Kim Hyo-yi said, “Although sanitary pads are an indispensable item, it is very unfortunate that more teenagers than we think are unable to use proper sanitary pads in poor environments.” She added, “We hope that children can have a healthier and safer menstrual cycle through good products. Inercia aims to solve women’s health issues through technology.” She added, “With this donation as an opportunity, we will fulfill our social responsibility so that more women and children can live healthy lives.”
Since the opening of the Cambodia office in 2024, Green Umbrella has been actively carrying out customized support projects for the health and welfare of girls and adolescents, focusing on the Kampot region. This donation is an example of providing practical help to vulnerable overseas regions with low access to sanitary pads, and is improving the environment so that all women can live healthy lives regardless of nationality or environment.
