Mesacure Company to Supply Facial Recognition Technology to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security's 'Mobile Resident Registration Card Project'

Mesacure Company announced that it participated in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 'Mobile Resident Registration Card Issuance System' construction project and supplied facial recognition AI technology.

The mobile resident registration card is the fourth additional mobile ID card following the mobile driver's license, national veterans registration card, and overseas national identification card. Through this project, Mesacure Company will also be supplying facial recognition technology for the mobile resident registration card in the government-led mobile ID card construction project.

The mobile resident registration card has the same legal effect as the physical resident registration card, and is applied equally in all places where the current ID card is used, such as public institutions, financial institutions, hospitals, airports, and convenience stores. This mobile ID card began to be issued in earnest in March, and you can verify your identity using the mobile resident registration card stored on your mobile phone without having to carry the physical resident registration card.

Mesacure Company applied a facial recognition engine that passed the 2024 TTA test to this system. In the facial recognition stage when issuing a mobile resident registration card, the person’s face is taken with a smartphone camera and compared to the resident registration photo to confirm whether it matches the person, and anti-spoofing and liveness filtering are also applied.

Lee Ji-hoon, CEO of Mesacure Company, said, “The KYC (know your customer) and DID (digital identity verification) related markets are expected to grow rapidly in the future, and identity verification using facial recognition technology will become mainstream both online and offline.” He also said, “I am proud that Korea has taken the lead globally through the mobile ID business, and I hope that Korean technology will spread overseas.”
