Scone Attracts Investment from Naver D2SF

Naver D2SF has made a new investment in virtual IP and content startup 'Scone (CEO Ki-Jun-Su)'. While providing B2B solutions specialized in virtual content production, Scone is also planning and managing its own virtual IP and content utilizing these solutions.

Scone has developed solutions specialized in the production and transmission of virtual content, such as 3D motion capture and live streaming, and has provided them to various IP companies, such as webtoons and games, on a B2B basis. It has increased the efficiency of real-time content production in line with the characteristics of virtual content, which requires active communication with users, and has established its own studio to provide stable support for high-quality content.

In addition, Scone is also standing out in the virtual IP·content planning and management business utilizing its own solutions. Since its establishment, it has debuted the most virtual characters in Korea, and currently owns about 30 virtual character IPs, including the VTuber group 'Meechu'. Based on the IP, it is conducting live sponsorship, goods, and advertising businesses, and recently, it is diversifying its IP revenue by expanding its scope to secondary content such as games and web novels.

Yang Sang-hwan, head of Naver D2SF Center, said, “Scone is a rare team with both planning and technical capabilities in the virtual industry. With its IP discovery and planning know-how plus stable content production solutions, it has an unrivaled competitive advantage.” He added, “We are already closely interacting and collaborating with Naver’s virtual technology and business organizations, and we plan to create synergy at various touchpoints in the future.” He also added, “We look forward to various collaborations with virtual content startups that Naver D2SF has invested in so far.”

Recently, Naver has been strengthening its virtual technology and content experience by officially launching 'Motion Stage', a virtual content specialized studio. Naver D2SF has been preemptively investing in all areas of virtual technology, including 3D engines, data, and content creation since 2021, and has supported exchanges and cooperation with Naver-related organizations. Representative examples include 'Moobin', which developed a real-time motion capture solution, 'Ndotlight', which possesses 3D engine technology, and 'Claydis', an AI-based 3D creation startup.
