Anchored, a Roblox-based creator development company, announced on March 24 that it has signed a business agreement with GeekOut, a Japanese immersive solutions company, to foster Roblox creators and discover game content IP in Korea and Japan.
Anchored successfully hosted the 3rd Roblox Developer Meetup on February 27th at the Google Startup Campus in Seoul. Around 120 ecosystem stakeholders including Roblox headquarters attended the event, and various Roblox-related companies including Geekout participated as sponsors to support the growth of the Roblox developer community. This business agreement, which was signed as an extension of this collaboration, focuses on fostering a growth and collaboration ecosystem for teenage creators active on the Roblox platform, and laying the foundation for the global expansion of game content between the two countries.
Under the agreement, Anchored and Geekout will jointly plan programs to discover and train promising Roblox creators from both Korea and Japan. They will also jointly develop promising game projects within Roblox and design a monetization structure, and Geekout will provide individual investment reviews and marketing support for projects with potential for success. Programs for exchanges between creators from both countries will also be operated, and opportunities for mutual cooperation will be expanded through online camps and hackathons.
Anchored’s CEO Baek In-woo is an event organizer officially appointed by Roblox and a Korean community ambassador, and has maintained an ongoing interest in game development. Baek began working as a Roblox coding instructor in 2021 and entered the Roblox ecosystem in earnest, which led to the establishment of Anchored, currently the largest Roblox developer community in Korea. He said, “The true value of the Roblox ecosystem lies in the creation and community led by teenagers,” and “Through this agreement, we will leap forward as a Roblox content hub representing Asia together with Geekout.”
