Happiness Alliance, Gunpo City and 'Happiness Axe Project' Agreement

The social contribution network Happy Alliance (Office: Happy Narae Co., Ltd.) signed a 'Happy Axe Project' agreement with Gunpo City on the 7th, welcoming Gunpo City as the 134th cooperating local government. Through this agreement, the social safety net for children at risk of starvation will be further strengthened.

The Happiness Alliance has been continuously expanding support for children at risk of starvation through cooperation with 134 local governments nationwide since 2020. Through this, 1.78 million happy lunch boxes have been provided to approximately 8,000 children at risk of starvation, including children who are currently being prepared for support. These efforts are evaluated as an achievement made through public-private cooperation to solve the problem of child starvation.

With this agreement, Gunpo City will participate in the 'Happy Axe Project' and provide 10,400 happy lunch boxes per year to 40 children at risk of starvation in the city. This will support the healthy growth of children and build a sustainable social safety net.

The signing ceremony was held on the 7th at Gunpo City Hall in Gyeonggi Province, and was attended by Gunpo Mayor Ha Eun-ho, Happiness Alliance Secretariat Director Cho Min-young, I-Coop Natural Dream Natural Dream Seed Foundation Director Park Su-jin, and Happy Lunchbox Social Cooperative Secretary General Choi Jun.

To promote this project, local governments, member companies, and social enterprises cooperated based on their respective capabilities and divided up their roles. The lunch box funds are provided by donations from Happy Alliance member companies including Aikoop Natural Dream, and the Happy Lunch Box Social Cooperative is in charge of manufacturing and delivering the lunch boxes. Gunpo City plans to establish a continuous support system by actively discovering children at risk of starvation and linking them to the school meal system even after the lunch box support ends.

Cho Min-young, head of the Happiness Alliance Secretariat, said, “The Happiness Axe Project was able to expand to its 134th agreement thanks to the participation of various stakeholders in solving social problems,” and added, “We will continue to lay a solid foundation for the future so that children can enjoy stable and happy daily lives.”
