Lavawave Signs Strategic Business Agreement with Chungnam National University Student Council

Lavawave announced on the 4th that it signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) with the Chungnam National University Student Council. The purpose of this agreement is to prevent the rapidly increasing digital sex crimes on university campuses and to help students focus on their studies and lives in a safe environment.

The business agreement focuses on preventing the indiscriminate spread of sensitive information in advance, rather than responding to digital sex crimes after they occur. LavaWave plans to support the advance prevention and response to digital sex crimes such as body cam phishing, deep fakes, and revenge porn by utilizing its self-developed AI-based illegal filming detection solution, ‘Lava Scanner.’

According to the National Police Agency, the number of digital sex crimes such as body cam phishing, deep fakes, and revenge porn has increased rapidly from 8,193 cases in 2017 to 16,306 cases in 2023, and in particular, college students are emerging as the main victim group, accounting for 27.2% of all victims in their 20s. In this situation, Lavawave plans to carry out various cooperative activities to protect college students.

'Lava Scanner' is an innovative AI detection technology that overcomes the technical limitations of existing illegal filming monitoring services and can immediately detect illegal videos distributed online with just a simple ID photo-level image, even without the original video or image of the damage. Through this, it is possible to prevent further damage from spreading and systematically provide follow-up measures such as deletion support.

A representative of Lavawave said, “Our cooperation with the Chungnam National University Student Council is an important starting point to help prevent and respond quickly to digital sex crimes that are the main targets of university students,” and added, “Starting with Chungnam National University, we will continue to work to expand our cooperation with universities across the country so that students can live in a safe campus environment.”
