Streaming House signed a business agreement (MOU) with Minerva University on March 27 to promote global travel.
In recent years, workation (Work+Vacation) has received much attention as a work culture that connects companies and regions from an ESG perspective, expands the local population, and creates a new growth model. Recently, learncation (Learn+Vacation) has been receiving new attention beyond workation.
Recently, in Korea, with the change in the work environment after COVID-19, companies have been actively introducing workcations, and starting this year, government officials are participating in workcations, expanding the local living population and seeking new growth. This is why there is anticipation for runcations that connect students and the region to become another growth model for the region.
Streaming House, founded in 2020, is a specialized workation startup that provides the workation service 'The Holiday' to over 1,000 companies through collaboration with over 50 local governments.
Since its establishment in 2012, Minerva University has been attracting attention as a future-oriented educational university where students from all over the world reside and take classes in seven countries. It also collaborates with leading global companies such as Netflix, and has a differentiated educational method that has earned it the number one spot in the world in the WURI Innovation University Evaluation for three consecutive years since 2022.
Streaming House CEO Shin Dong-hoon said, “We have been working hard to create a workation culture among companies and local governments for the past several years,” and added, “If the ultimate goal of a workation is to connect companies and regions to promote regional coexistence, I think a runcation is a new lifestyle that connects students and regions to expand the new residential population, and through understanding of the region, it can expand into employment and startups in the region in the future, thereby expanding the settled population.”
CEO Shin also stated, “We started preparing with interest since last year, and through this process, we were able to build a rapport through many conversations with Minerva University, and through this agreement, we have the opportunity to create a new culture called Runcation together.”
Eun-Jung Kim, Director of Strategic Planning at Minerva University, said, “Minerva University students are staying in seven countries including Korea, Japan, Germany, Argentina, and India, and are collaborating with companies and organizations in each country.”
Director Kim continued, “We have an educational method where students carry out projects and discuss them with professors in charge, and we also understand and experience the local culture and solve community problems together.” He added, “Runcations may still be an unfamiliar culture to students and the local community, but we expect that through this, we will be able to make the innovative educational direction that Minerva University pursues more meaningful.”
