Energy and climate tech company Enlighten announced on the 3rd that it has completed a 340kW self-consumption solar power plant on the roof of BlueMTech Co., Ltd.’s Pyeongtaek Logistics Center in Gyeonggi Province.
This project is a preemptive measure taken by BlueMTech to achieve the global campaign RE100 (a goal to procure 100% of the electricity used by the company from renewable energy) and to reduce electricity bills. It is expected to become an important foundation for strengthening ESG (environment, society, and governance) management as a pharmaceutical distribution specialist.
Bluemtech is a leading pharmaceutical distribution company in Korea that operates the B2B platform 'Blue Pharm Korea' for doctors with approximately 35,000 members. Through the construction of this solar power plant, Bluemtech has laid the foundation to cover its electricity consumption using self-generated electricity, reduce electricity bills in the long term, and improve energy efficiency.
Enlighten is responsible for the entire process of this project, including design, construction, and operation management, and provided a customized solution that enabled BlueMTech to achieve RE100 goals and reduce electricity costs simultaneously through a self-consumption energy model.
In particular, it is notable that the existing water supply facilities and transformers are utilized to maximize power supply efficiency, and the electrical facilities are placed underground to harmonize with the external landscape. In addition, the solar modules are designed to be invisible from the outside of the building, so that they can produce high-efficiency energy without damaging the appearance.
This 340kW solar power facility was designed to generate the electricity needed to operate BlueMTech’s logistics warehouse, thereby reducing dependence on external power sources and maximizing long-term energy cost savings.
Enlighten emphasized that building solar power facilities using idle land within industrial complexes would help companies move in to reduce their electricity bills and generate long-term profits.
Lee Young-ho, CEO of Enlighten, said, “Enlighten has substantially supported BlueMTech in achieving its RE100 goals through optimized design and construction,” and added, “We will continue to actively expand related businesses to support the sustainability and competitiveness of the domestic manufacturing industry by reducing energy costs for companies in industrial complexes and realizing RE100.”
