Global travel tech company Yanolja (CEO Lee Soo-jin) celebrated its 20th anniversary by hosting the event 'Re:Imagine What is Possible' and announced its ambition to innovate the global travel market by converging artificial intelligence (AI) and data technology. The event, held at TenX Tower in Pangyo on the 2nd, was attended by approximately 4,000 domestic and international executives and employees online and offline, and representatives from major travel industry partners were also present.
CEO Lee Soo-jin presented Yanolja’s vision of “making dream travel a reality for everyone in the world,” and expressed her will to transform the travel and leisure industry paradigm by combining AI and data technology. She emphasized that based on the growth of the past 20 years, she will continue to innovate with her employees and leap forward as the global number one travel tech company over the next 10 years.
Yanolja, which started as an online accommodation information community in 2005, led the digital transformation by launching Korea's first mobile accommodation app, "Yanolja," in 2011. It grew into Korea's number one accommodation reservation platform by introducing innovative services such as the "instant reservation" system, and successfully transitioned into a "super app" that encompassed all aspects of travel and leisure, including hotels, overseas accommodation, leisure, transportation, and aviation, by declaring "restart" in 2015. Last year, it launched "NOL UNIVERSE," a new corporation that spun off Yanolja's platform business division and integrated it with Interpark Triple, signaling its evolution into an only platform that encompasses leisure, travel, and cultural data.
Furthermore, Yanolja has not rested on its laurels as the number one travel platform in Korea, but has also been gradually preparing to leap forward as a global travel tech company by focusing on its enterprise solutions business. In 2019, it acquired global hotel solutions company 'eZee Technosys' and developed a cloud-based subscription solution, supporting the digital transformation of travel businesses around the world and laying the foundation for expanding into the global market. In 2023, it will secure Go Global Travel as a member and accelerate the construction of a global data infrastructure targeting 206 countries, focusing on connecting and integrating fragmented travel data around the world.
In step with the coming AI era, Yanolja will present a new standard for the travel industry based on AI technology and lead the paradigm shift. Based on its own data and AI technology, it will provide customized generative AI services to travelers and AI agent solutions that maximize efficiency and profitability based on an automated operating environment to travel businesses. Through this, Yanolja, as a leading global travel tech company, will provide easier, smarter, safer, and more personalized travel experiences and lead the innovation of the global travel industry.
Along with this, a new brand identity containing Yanolja's vision and future was unveiled. The core color, 'Yanolja Orange,' symbolizes the warm emotions and happiness that travelers feel like the sunset at their travel destination, and contains the company's philosophy of conveying the emotions of travel beyond technology. In addition, a symbol symbolizing a line connecting each touch point of the Earth and travel was added to visually express the identity as a 'hyper-connector' that connects the global travel market. By integrating the brands of member companies around the world that use the Yanolja brand under a new master brand, we plan to further strengthen our competitiveness in the global market.
CEO Lee Soo-jin emphasized, “In the midst of technological changes such as AI, humanoids, and autonomous driving, leading the automated offline operation environment and platform will become essential conditions for Yanolja.” She added, “By redefining the global travel industry with AI technology and unique travel-specific data, we will support both travelers and travel businesses to experience travel more easily and conveniently, and make happy dream travels come true for everyone in the world.”
Meanwhile, the event was followed by congratulatory messages for the 20th anniversary. Key figures such as Vice Chairman Woo Kee-hong of Korean Air, singer Psy, known for "Gangnam Style," Koh Chin-kiong, CIO of the Singapore Investment Corporation, and Adena Friedman, CEO of Nasdaq, sent congratulatory messages expressing their hopes for greater innovation and changes in the global travel industry over the past 20 years led by Yanolja. Nasdaq drew attention by displaying a congratulatory message on a billboard in New York's Times Square and sharing a video of the scene.
