Amazon Web Services Expands AWS Marketplace to Korea

Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced the expansion of AWS Marketplace to Korea on the 2nd.

This expansion will enable domestic independent software vendors (ISVs), resellers, and system integrators (SIs) to directly sell their solutions to customers around the world through AWS Marketplace. This expansion will enable domestic technology companies to expand their business by providing innovative software solutions and services to the global market through their Korean corporations. In addition, customers purchasing software, data, and services on AWS Marketplace can now choose between Korean Won and US Dollars when making payments.

Through this expansion, solutions from major domestic ISVs such as Neosapience, Saltlux, and Superb AI have been registered in the AWS Marketplace, and channel partners such as LG CNS, Megazone Cloud, and SK C&C can now provide software and services through the Channel Partner Private Offer (CPPO) program of the AWS Marketplace based on their Korean corporations.

AWS Marketplace is a digital catalog that allows you to easily browse, purchase, and distribute third-party software, services, and data solutions. Domestic vendors can register software and consulting products with flexible pricing models ranging from usage-based to multi-year contracts on AWS Marketplace. This expansion is part of our efforts to help AWS partners around the world actively utilize AWS Marketplace as a business growth channel, while providing more options to support customers’ digital transformation. AWS is committed to continuously supporting domestic technology companies while also providing a variety of high-quality cloud solutions to global customers.

This expansion into Korea is part of the global expansion strategy of AWS Marketplace, which supports technology providers to create new market opportunities. Currently, AWS Marketplace offers more than 20,000 solutions registered by more than 5,000 sellers, and is used by millions of customers around the world. According to a study by Forrester Consulting, AWS Marketplace sellers have seen an average 80% increase in deal size, a 27% increase in the number of closed deals, and a 40% reduction in sales cycles from an average of 5 months to 3 months. In addition, up to 20% of the entire sales pipeline is generated through AWS’s partner programs, such as the ISV Accelerate Program.

“As AWS Marketplace continues to expand globally, it provides new opportunities for technology companies to connect with customers around the world,” said Matt Yanchyshyn, Vice President, AWS Marketplace and Partner Services. “Through our expansion in Korea, we hope to enable local ISVs and channel partners to grow their businesses and accelerate innovation by offering their solutions to global customers.”

“The expansion of AWS Marketplace to Korea will be a significant turning point for our business,” said Donghoon Yeom, CEO of MegaZone Cloud. “Through the CPPO program, we can now provide customized solutions to global enterprise customers based on the strong security and efficiency of AWS Marketplace. In addition, we can leverage AWS’s joint sales opportunities and efficient business processes, and provide customers with tangible benefits through flexible licensing options and standardized contracts.”

Kim Tae-soo, CEO of Neosapiens, said, “Since being selected for the AWS Global Generative AI Accelerator Program in 2024, we have been focusing on the global expansion of Typecast, an AI-based voice and video synthesis service,” and “The expansion of AWS Marketplace to Korea will greatly expand our reach to customers around the world, which will be a great help in driving Neosapiens’ future growth.”

“The expansion of AWS Marketplace to Korea is a significant opportunity for Saltlux’s Giant Language Model (LLM) to be more readily available to customers around the world,” said Lee Kyung-il, CEO of Saltlux. “Now, customers can explore, purchase, and deploy our language model, LUXIA, more quickly through AWS’s streamlined purchasing process.”
