Marketboro, the 'only path to digital transformation in the food market', exceeds 10 trillion won in transaction amount

– “Monumental achievement” in 9 years since establishment… Rapid growth of two major services ‘Marketbom’ and ‘Sikbom’

-“Target annual transaction amount of 10 trillion won by 2027”… Predicting DX innovation in the food distribution market

Enterprise foodtech company Marketboro (CEO Sa-seong Lim) announced that the cumulative transaction value (GMV) through its ‘Marketbom’ and ‘Sikbom’ services, digital transformation solutions for the food materials market, exceeded KRW 10 trillion as of the 31st of last month.

This achievement was made 9 years after the company first entered the food distribution market, which was mostly manual transactions, with ‘Market Bom’, a food ordering SaaS, right after its founding in 2016.

Marketboro, which surpassed KRW 9.1962 trillion in cumulative transaction amount at the end of last year, recorded a transaction amount of close to KRW 1 trillion in just three months this year, reaching a cumulative KRW 10 trillion.

Considering that the annual sales of major domestic food distribution companies are in the range of 2-3 trillion won, Marketboro, whose annual transaction amount between Marketbom and Sikbom exceeds 3 trillion won, has already reached the scale of a large corporation.

Marketboro provides two services: ‘Marketbom’, which acts as an intermediary for food ingredient orders, and ‘Sikbom’, a food ingredient open market that directly connects distributors and restaurants.

Starting with distributors in Seoul and the metropolitan area, the number of distributors and franchise customers using Market Bom increased, and the transaction amount increased rapidly. In particular, famous franchises such as Isaac Toast and Yoajung joined as customers one after another, and the service scope expanded to the provinces.

With major distributors such as CJ Freshway, Nonghyup, Daesang, Sajo, and Dongwon Home Foods entering the market, the transaction amount is increasing by more than two times every year. About 180,000 people, or 22.5% of the estimated 800,000 domestic restaurant business owners, are members of Sikbom.

Thanks to this growth, Marketboro's annual transaction amount, which was only 32 billion won in 2017, rapidly increased to 631.6 billion won in 2021, 2.078 trillion won in 2022, 2.7725 trillion won in 2023, and 3.24 trillion won last year.

Lim Sa-seong, CEO of Marketboro, said, “We expect to reach 10 trillion won in annual transactions by 2027,” and “Based on 10 trillion won in annual transaction data, we will innovate the entire process of B2B food distribution, from futures trading to auctions and wholesale and retail transactions, to make transactions safe, transparent, and convenient through real-time supply/demand and buyer analysis.”
