Naver Cloud to Provide Dedicated Generative AI Platform to the Bank of Korea

Naver Cloud announced that it signed a contract with the Bank of Korea to provide the Bank of Korea with a generative AI platform based on its 'NeuroCloud for HyperClova X (hereinafter referred to as NeuroCloud)'. The two organizations plan to build a generative AI model specialized for finance and the economy by training the HyperClova X model with data owned by the Bank of Korea and to begin the service in October.

The 'Neurocloud' being introduced to the Bank of Korea this time is a service that directly installs cloud infrastructure within the customer's data center and trains generative AI only within a closed network, thereby preventing data from leaking externally. The company emphasized that it was the best choice for the Bank of Korea, which was considering introducing generative AI in an on-premise environment for security reasons.

The two companies will develop specialized financial and economic models to improve the work productivity of Bank of Korea employees, from basic functions such as data search and summary, translation, and Q&A chatbots to specialized tools for research and analysis of various economic issues, and will continue to enhance functions so that AI can act as an 'AI agent' for each employee in the future.

Through this, we plan to jointly discover and provide public services by linking Hyperclova X and the Bank of Korea's data search, summary, and recommendation in the long term.

Naver Cloud said that as domestic and international interest in sovereign AI has been increasing recently, Naver Cloud is virtually the only company in Korea that possesses both the cloud infrastructure to implement sovereign AI and the LLM technology capabilities to support independent AI construction.

Naver Cloud CEO Kim Yu-won said, “This contract is the first case of introducing NeuroCloud in the domestic financial sector, and will be a successful case of establishing sovereign AI in the financial sector where both security and innovation are required.” He added, “Based on Naver Cloud’s original technology, we will spare no support so that we can respond nimbly to changes in the IT environment and open the service stably.”
