
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (Minister Oh Young-joo, hereinafter referred to as the Ministry of SMEs and Startups) announced on the 27th that it held the 'Campus Startup Springboard' at Chungbuk National University together with the Startup Promotion Center and 11 startup-oriented universities to promote university startups and youth startups. 'Campus Startup Springboard' refers to the role of universities as a regional startup springboard and a place to support the challenges of energetic young people in spring.
'Entrepreneurship-centered universities' are regional entrepreneurship ecosystem hubs that support local startups and vitalize university-based entrepreneurship by utilizing the excellent entrepreneurship infrastructure of universities. Currently, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups has designated 11 universities with excellent entrepreneurship support capabilities by region as 'Entrepreneurship-centered universities' to support regional entrepreneurship through universities and vitalize university-based entrepreneurship.
At the event, various programs were held, including a business agreement ceremony between the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and 11 entrepreneurship-oriented universities, including Chungbuk National University and Chonnam National University, which were newly selected as entrepreneurship-oriented universities for 25 years, as well as an announcement of support strategies for new entrepreneurship-oriented universities and sharing of cases of excellent youth entrepreneurship companies.
The institutions that attended the business agreement ceremony on that day agreed to cooperate with each other to promote startups at the entrepreneurship-centered university and to serve as a regional startup hub, and to actively support and link resources owned by the university, such as startup infrastructure and investment resources within the university, to strengthen the capabilities of startup companies.
Minister Oh Young-joo said, “We will spare no support so that the universities can faithfully fulfill their roles as hubs of the regional startup ecosystem and cradle of young entrepreneurs who produce innovative startups through the excellent human resources and technology of startup-centered universities.” He added, “We expect that in the future, startup-centered universities will establish themselves as practical entities supporting startups in the region and serve as a foundation to help startups grow steadily.”
