Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation (CEO Lee Byeong-seon, hereinafter referred to as Jeju Center) announced that Pitter Petter (CEO Park Jun-ho) , a companion animal genetic-based healthcare startup and childcare company, was finally selected as a company to receive support from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' 'Global Startup Officer School'.
The 'Global Startup Academy' is a representative global startup fostering program hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and is a project that provides package support from global expansion preparation to commercialization and expansion stages. It selects promising startups with innovative technologies in the fields of ultra-gap technology, new industry, and climate technology, and this year, a total of 60 companies were selected nationwide. These companies will receive support for overseas expansion into bases such as the US, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Pitter Petter is a pet tech startup that provides customized health management solutions based on the DNA analysis of companion animals. It is a pet tech startup that operates ‘Dogma’ and ‘Catering’, a genetic testing service for companion dogs and cats, by building a genome-based biodata platform centered on research and development personnel from Seoul National University’s Department of Medical Informatics and Life Sciences.
The main services include ▲disease risk gene analysis ▲provision of nutritional and behavioral genetic characteristics ▲gene-based customized health management guide, etc., and it provides a dual-target trust-based service for both veterinarians and guardians.
In addition, we are currently preparing to introduce a companion dog individual identification (DNA ID) test for DNA registration, and we are spreading a responsible pet culture by utilizing it for the rapid return of abandoned and lost animals, breeding management, and lineage confirmation.
Pitter Petter was selected for the program again this year, following last year, and will be actively pursuing entry into the Singapore market this year. Following the successful conclusion of an export contract with Japan last year, Singapore was chosen as a strategic base for expansion into the Southeast Asian market.
The pet market in Singapore is a sophisticated market that combines high healthcare standards and premium service demands. In particular, there is a high level of interest in data-based customized healthcare services, and Pitter Petter’s precision genetic analysis technology and AI-based health solutions are evaluated to be in line with local demand.
Based on its selection for this program, Pitter Petter plans to pursue collaboration with local distribution partners and the veterinary community, and to begin verifying local validation and commercialization strategies in Singapore.
Pitter Petter CEO Park Jun-ho said, “It is meaningful to be able to carry out all of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ representative programs, following the Ministry of SMEs and Startups’ Preliminary Startup Package (2020), Youth Entrepreneurship Academy (2021), and Global Entrepreneurship Academy (2023),” adding, “We will successfully advance into the Singapore and Southeast Asian markets and grow into a global pet tech company representing Jeju.”
Meanwhile, Pitter Petter is a Jeju startup that celebrated its 5th anniversary this year. It was selected for the Jeju Center's preliminary startup package in 2020 and received support for a space at W360 the following year. In 2023, it succeeded in attracting pre-A series investment, was selected for the Ministry of SMEs and Startups' TIPS program, and concluded an export contract with Japan. Last year, it achieved achievements such as obtaining Class A data quality (DQ) certification for companion animal genome analysis data, being selected as an excellent data voucher company, and receiving the Minister of Science and ICT Award.
In addition, we are diversifying our pet healthcare business through open innovation collaboration with large corporations such as Kyobo Life Insurance and Kyowon Group, and we plan to accelerate our expansion into domestic and international markets using this selection as an opportunity for the Global Startup Academy.
