Gyeongbuk Center to Hold 1st Defense Industry Seminar in 2025

Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center (CEO Lee Moon-rak) and Gyeongbuk Academia-Industry Convergence Institute announced that they successfully held the '2025 Defense Industry 1st Seminar' in the conference room of Gyeongbuk Academia-Industry Convergence Institute on the 25th as part of the 'Full Cycle Defense Industry Startup Support Project' that they are jointly promoting with the goal of fostering defense industry startups and strengthening the industrial ecosystem.

This seminar was organized to bring together defense companies, research institutes, and experts to share the latest trends and technologies and build a cooperative network, as the importance of strengthening national security and defense industry competitiveness increases amidst the rapidly changing international situation.

About 40 people, including executives and staff from defense industry companies and defense industry project execution agencies, attended this seminar. In particular, the excellent performance of the companies selected in the first year with support from the Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center drew attention.

RFON Co., Ltd. (CEO Kyung-Rae Cho) is a company that develops core RF (radio frequency) components in the ECM (electronic countermeasure technology) field, and after direct investment from the Gyeongbuk Center, it achieved the feat of being selected for the TIPS program of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups. In addition, it was honored with an award at the 2024 G-Star Awards in recognition of its innovation.

In addition, Epowertrain Korea (CEO Lee Ui-cheon) proved its growth potential by being selected for the 15th Youth Entrepreneurship Academy of the Small and Medium Business Administration in 2025 based on the 2024 Defense Industry Startup Support Project. Epowertrain Korea plans to use this opportunity to leap forward as an unrivaled engine manufacturer in the defense drone sector.

This seminar served as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between defense companies and share the latest technology and policy information. Gyeongbuk Creative Economy Innovation Center and Gyeongbuk Industry-Academia Convergence Institute will continue to make efforts to support the growth of defense companies and contribute to the development of the Korean defense industry.
