Neomation Signs Business Agreement with 21grams

Neomation, a deathtech enabler service company, announced on the 26th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with 21gram (CEO Kwon Shin-goo), a pet funeral specialist company, to introduce a pet water decomposition funeral service.

Through this agreement, the two companies have decided to actively promote joint activities for the introduction and commercialization of pet hydrolysis funeral services based on eco-friendly corpse processing technology and related infrastructure. The main cooperation contents are: △Establishment of a hydrolysis demonstration center for regulatory verification, △Development of field training, internships, and education courses for training hydrolysis experts, △Joint development of hydrolysis memorial business items, △Conversion of existing cremation facilities to hydrolysis facilities, △Promotion of cooperative projects in other agreed areas of interest, etc.

Neomation's 'pet hydrolysis' funeral service is a method of disposing of a body using water, unlike cremation methods that use high-temperature fire. It is a technology that uses a small amount of alkaline solution and water to hydrolyze the body and convert it into a completely sterilized liquid substance. This method is an eco-friendly way to dispose of a body naturally, and has already been commercialized in 16 countries, including the US, Canada, and the UK, since 2010. In Korea, the hydrolysis method was added to the animal body disposal method through the revision of the Enforcement Decree of the Animal Protection Act in 2022, and a legal basis was also established.

Neomation plans to launch its self-developed pet water decomposition device, the 'NP40', in the first half of this year, and also plans to operate a demo center where the process of disposing of corpses using water decomposition technology can be demonstrated. Through this, it plans to inform government ministries and local governments of the excellence of water decomposition technology and promote public-private cooperation for the introduction of eco-friendly pet funeral facilities.

Park Yang-se, CEO of Neomation, said, “Through this agreement, we will do our best to advance technology and build infrastructure so that a new funeral method called hydrolysis can take hold in Korea, which is entering an era of 15 million pets.”
