
Mobile game company Wemade Play announced on the 24th that it had appointed Woo Sang-jun as the new CEO through a shareholders' meeting and board meeting held at Wemade Tower in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 24th.
The newly appointed CEO, Sang-Joon Woo, is a game and IT expert who started at NHN in 2003, served as the General Manager of NHN Entertainment, CEO of NHN Blackpick, and has served as CEO of Metabora since 2022. In addition, the new CEO Sang-Joon Woo established Playlings, which grew into a key subsidiary of Wemade Play, in 2015 and laid the foundation for Playlings’ growth by expanding the Anipang IP. The company explained the background of the appointment, saying that CEO Sang-Joon Woo, who has demonstrated his capabilities for over 20 years in the rapidly changing IT industry, including Playlings, is the proven right person to lead new growth and change.
The new CEO, Woo Sang-jun, said, “Wemade Play’s next era is to become a unique game developer in the global casual puzzle genre, a market worth 12.2 billion dollars in 24 years,” and added, “We will expand into the global market with a clear vision and strategy to present global standard games that combine understanding of users and technology.”
Woo Sang-jun, who has been appointed as the new CEO of Wemade Play, is scheduled to begin his official activities on March 24th.
