CJ Donors Camp Signs Business Agreement with Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation

On the 20th, CJ Donors Camp signed a business agreement (MOU) with the Korea Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation for the ‘Regional Children’s Center Multicultural Education Support Project’ at the CJ CheilJedang Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.

CJ Donors Camp celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, and as a sharing platform established by the CJ Sharing Foundation in 2005, it has operated various social programs based on the social contribution philosophy of Chairman Lee Jae-hyun that “companies should be the dream supporters of young people.” This agreement is part of this, and is intended to continuously operate the “CJ Donors Camp Dream Nurturing Cultural Diversity Classroom” program, which has been in collaboration between CJ Donors Camp and the Korea Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation for the third year.

As of 2023, the proportion of multicultural students in Korea will reach 3.5%, but the proportion of multicultural students in local children's centers nationwide will reach 23.4%, emphasizing the need for education to improve awareness of multiculturalism. Accordingly, the 'CJ Donors Camp Dream Nurturing Cultural Diversity Classroom' is a social contribution program that helps children and adolescents from multicultural families understand each other's cultural differences and grow into global citizens. The Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation will support the program with 500 million won for the education curriculum and operating expenses, and CJ Donors Camp will support 200 million won for the program operation and operating expenses.

According to this agreement, CJ Donors Camp will recruit participating institutions for the 'CJ Donors Camp Dream Nurturing Cultural Diversity Classroom' from the 26th to May 19th at local children's centers nationwide. 600 local children's centers, a 50% increase from last year, will participate, and online and offline cultural diversity instructor training will be conducted for teachers at these centers in June. The training will be conducted over 7 sessions over approximately two months, and approximately 9,000 children are expected to participate in this program.

The program consists of a curriculum that reflects the characteristics of a local children's center where people of various ages and cultural backgrounds coexist, and renowned Korean history instructor Choi Tae-seong and Professor Lee Won-bok, author of 'Faraway Neighbors', are participating in the online education.

Min Hee-kyung, head of the CJ Social Contribution Promotion Team, said, “Children’s awareness has improved and satisfaction has been high through the cultural diversity program that has been carried out over the past two years,” and added, “We plan to provide practical support through preemptive education tailored to social changes.”

Joo Wan, chairman of the Korea Financial Industry Public Welfare Foundation, said, “In line with the era of changing multicultural society, we will expand educational support so that more children can grow into global citizens, and provide necessary education in the field of care education,” and “We will create a more advanced educational environment so that children, the leaders of the future, can live together based on understanding and consideration.”
