With economic growth slowing worldwide, dark clouds are gathering over the domestic industry and economy as a whole.
According to the 'Survey on the impact of the recent high exchange rate trend on major domestic industries' published by the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in January of this year, most industries, including bio, semiconductors, batteries, and steel, are experiencing difficulties. The analysis is that the burden of rising costs of raw material imports and overseas investment is having a greater effect than expectations of export effects.
Also, on the 11th, the Korea Development Institute (KDI) announced a revised economic outlook for 2025, lowering its forecast for Korea’s economic growth rate from 2% in November last year to 1.6%. This is because the main factors for the downward adjustment of the economic growth rate include the weakening economic sentiment due to political instability and the worsening trade environment due to changes in U.S. policy.
Amid such an outlook, trading companies with a large proportion of imports, such as raw materials, are actively utilizing external business support services as self-help measures, such as reducing fixed costs or increasing work efficiency.
