Laon Secure, Kyungmin University HiVE Business Center Digital Badge System Construction

IT security and authentication platform company LaonSecure announced that it signed a contract with Kyungmin University to build a digital badge system to strengthen educational innovation and trainee competency certification at the Higher Vocational Education Center (HiVE).

The 'Kyungmin University HiVE Business Center', launched by the consortium of Kyungmin University and Uijeongbu City, operates various vocational education programs with the goal of fostering local talent. This business center utilizes the university's excellent human and material resources to foster talent with practical experience and background, and provides employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

LaonSecure plans to build a digital badge system linked to the learning management system (LMS) of Kyungmin University’s HiVE Business Center using its OmniOne badge. Through this, Kyungmin University will be able to digitally certify students’ learning performance and capabilities and provide an innovative environment for systematically managing learning status.

By introducing the digital badge system, trainees at the HiVE Business Center will be able to visually confirm their learning achievements and completion status by receiving a digital badge when participating in or completing a vocational training program. In addition, the school will be able to transparently manage the academic achievements of trainees, which is expected to enhance the reliability of learning outcomes.

The OmniOne Badge provides reliable qualification certification based on blockchain technology that is difficult to forge or alter, and is provided in the form of software as a service (SaaS), so digital badges can be issued without building a separate system. This system can be used for various purposes such as educational qualifications, awards, licenses, and warranties, and can be applied to issuing qualification certifications not only in universities but also in various organizations such as public institutions and companies.

The OmniOne badge is currently being used to issue credentials by various institutions and companies, such as university admission certificates and degree certificates, AI private certifications from CrowdAcademy, an AI specialist training institute, and e-portfolios from education platform company Ideringk, and is gradually expanding its market share.

Park Jong-moon, head of Laon Secure’s service business division, said, “This collaboration with Kyungmin University will be an opportunity to innovate the educational environment through systematic and transparent learning management in the field of education,” and added, “We will continue to expand the digital badge system by cooperating with various educational institutions.”
