– SJ Group to Invest in MarkVision in 2024… “We Will Continue Close Cooperation”

MarkVision (CEO In-Seop Lee), an AI-based IP integrated solution company, is providing its representative solution 'MarkAI' to various companies to protect the IP (intellectual property rights) of brands, and on the 19th, it announced the results of its collaboration with SJ Group, a leading fashion company in Korea.

SJ Group, a company that operates popular fashion brands such as 'Kangol' and 'Helen Kaminski', introduced 'Mark AI' for the first time in the fashion industry in April 2021 to protect brand IP and solidify consumer trust in the brand.

SJ Group, which has been using 'Mark AI' for 5 years this year, has sanctioned a total of 134,776 cases of counterfeit goods and unauthorized sales of each brand it owns as of January 2025. If this is converted into economic value, it amounts to a whopping 415,024 million won, and it is reported that a significant portion of this has led to additional sales. Efficiency for the same work has also increased significantly compared to before introduction.

What is noteworthy is that the distribution of counterfeit goods and unauthorized sales by malicious sellers have clearly decreased. When SJ Group introduced 'MarkAI', the popularity of K-fashion, which was rapidly rising in the global market, was leading to an increase in counterfeit goods and unauthorized sales, and the amount of sanctions was also increasing accordingly. However, the amount of sanctions last year turned into a downward trend, decreasing by 24.6% compared to the previous year, and in January of this year, it was found to have decreased by a whopping 83% compared to the monthly average last year. It is analyzed that this is because the activities of malicious sellers were fundamentally blocked, such as giving up selling SJ Group brand products, as surveillance and sanctions through 'MarkAI' continued.

This achievement was made possible by the industry's first generative AI-based brand IP protection solution, 'MarkAI'. 'MarkAI' automatically monitors counterfeit goods and unauthorized sales cases distributed in approximately 1,500 marketplaces and SNS in 118 countries around the world 24 hours a day using AI deep learning-based detection technology. In particular, the 'Seller Intel' function within 'MarkAI', which quickly identifies and deeply analyzes malicious sellers, was effective. It identifies malicious sellers who operate in an organized manner by identifying characteristics such as the order of product images uploaded by sellers, titles, keyword patterns in detailed information, and data such as business registration numbers and addresses using AI technology. This function was developed based on the fact that the top 1% of malicious sellers sell 30% of all counterfeit goods, and it goes beyond simply finding counterfeit goods and can even block the offline distribution networks of malicious sellers.

SJ Group, which highly evaluated MarkVision's outstanding capabilities and growth potential, also made a direct equity investment in MarkVision in 2024. Following the industry's preemptive introduction, this investment is a strategy to accelerate brand intellectual property protection through active interest in AI technology, which has recently become a hot topic, and also to increase responsiveness to uncertainty in the consumer goods industry.

SJ Group CEO Lee Ju-young said, “Collaboration with an AI technology-based IP solution company is an investment in a company’s long-term value and sustainability within the highly liquid fashion market.” He added, “The introduction of ‘MarkAI’ plays an important role not only in consumer protection and maintaining brand trust, but also in business efficiency, so we will continue to closely collaborate between fashion and AI in the future.”

Mark Vision CEO Lee In-seop said, “SJ Group is a representative client that has successfully protected its brand value by proactively introducing ‘Mark AI’ to respond to the problems of counterfeit products and malicious sellers at an early stage.” He added, “We will do our best to provide differentiated services such as advancing our technology in line with the needs of companies striving to create a safe shopping environment.”
