Jeb, official entry into Thailand

ZEP, a metaverse-based edtech platform, has officially entered Thailand and is starting to attack the Southeast Asian edtech market in earnest. This is a move that has been made quickly following the official entry into Indonesia last month, and ZEP plans to accelerate its global expansion through this entry.

ZEP announced on the 19th that it will officially launch its service in Thailand. It has adopted a strategy of entering the Southeast Asian market, which has high interest in education, high internet penetration rate, and a large school-age population, centered on the ZEP-based edutech platform 'ZEP QUIZ'. This region is particularly fast-growing in the education technology (edutech) market, and ZEP aims to play a leading role in this market.

Thailand is a country with a very high mobile penetration rate, with the number of mobile subscribers reaching approximately 129 million as of 2022, and the penetration rate reaching 188%. In addition, the Thai government is actively supporting the introduction of digital education and the construction of smart classrooms, so the potential of the edutech market is evaluated to be great. In this environment, Zep plans to quickly adapt to the local edutech market and provide services.

In particular, in Thailand, 'Gamification', which applies game elements to non-game situations to increase learning participation, is emerging as a major trend in the edutech field. 'Zep Quiz' is expected to lower the entry barrier and promote participation by providing a game-based learning method that increases the fun of learning while solving quizzes.

Last February, Zep conducted a beta service in Thailand for a month. During this period, Zep Quiz recorded 500,000 cumulative users and 1 million plays, confirming high interest and significant results in the local market. As a result, Zep has confirmed its official entry.

A local teacher who participated in the beta service said, “Thanks to Jepp Quiz, students were able to study happily without getting bored,” and “The quiz creation function and the waiting space where students could gather together were very convenient.”

Kim Sang-yeop, CEO of Jepp, said, “Thailand is promoting the ‘1 Student, 1 Tablet’ policy and expanding ICT education and the introduction of digital tools for educational innovation, so the edutech market has very high growth potential,” adding, “Starting with our entry into Indonesia and Thailand, we will continue to expand into the global market.”
