AI MEDTECH specialist Weissen announced on the 18th that it signed an AI endoscope supply contract with the KMI Korea Medical Research Institute. Under this contract, KMI will introduce the AI endoscope system, ‘WayMed Endo’, to eight centers nationwide as part of its efforts to build a foundation for high-quality endoscopic examinations.
KMI Korea Medical Institute is a health screening specialized institution established in 1985, operating health screening centers in three locations in Seoul and five locations in the regions. This supply contract aims to introduce AI endoscopes to KMI to improve the accuracy of endoscopic examinations and support early detection of digestive diseases. Waymed Endo is an AI software medical device that is linked to digestive endoscopic examination equipment, detecting abnormal lesions in real time and providing notifications to endoscopists. It has been reported that KMI's endoscopic examination doctors have given positive feedback that they can quickly and accurately detect lesions while using Waymed Endo.
“We are delighted that WayMed Endo has been introduced across KMI, which handles millions of screening patients every year,” said Kim Kyung-nam, CEO of Waysun. “As KMI is a pioneer in introducing AI endoscopy, we will do our best to support them in increasing the early detection rate of digestive cancer and improving the accuracy of endoscopic examinations.”
“With the incidence of colorectal cancer increasing among the younger generation, we expect that introducing the AI endoscopy solution to centers nationwide will significantly improve examination accuracy and early cancer detection rates,” said Kwang-Bae Lee, CEO of KMI Korea Medical Research Institute. “KMI will continue to strive to contribute to the promotion of national health by taking the lead in introducing proven innovative technologies.”
