Nearslab hires Kim Dong-hyun as new vice president

Nears Labs (CEO Choi Jae-hyeok), a leading drone AI company, has hired former Mocha System CEO Kim Dong-hyun as its new vice president.

Vice President Kim majored in mechanical engineering at Carnegie Mellon University and earned a master’s degree in industrial engineering from Stanford University. He has accumulated key leadership experience while working in business development at global companies such as Boeing, Motorola, and LG Electronics. Most recently, he served as CEO of Mocha Systems, a subsidiary of Suprema that possesses biometric source technology, and led innovation in mobile and cloud-based physical security solutions.

Vice President Kim, who has extensive experience in B2B enterprise solutions and physical security, plans to strengthen NearLab’s existing core businesses of defense, security, and inspection while creating new market opportunities by applying AI-based drone solutions to various B2B enterprise markets. In particular, by strengthening partnerships in the U.S. and Southeast Asia, he plans to build a differentiated business model not only in the overseas defense market but also in the B2B enterprise sector.

Nearslab is providing integrated AI drone solutions that combine hardware and software, with AI-based autonomous flight, swarm flight control, and unmanned operation technologies as its core competitiveness. Nearslab, which has been recognized for its differentiated autonomous flight software technology in the industrial safety inspection market, plans to further strengthen its position in the global market under Vice President Kim’s leadership.

“The drone industry has now reached a stage where it can provide essential and differentiated value,” said Kim Dong-hyun, Vice President of Nearslab. “Nearslab’s AI-based autonomous flight technology and unmanned operation technology will add a new level of intelligence and efficiency to existing industries.”

Meanwhile, Nearslab will participate in the World Security Expo (SECON 2025) to be held at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do from the 19th, and present its drone security solution together with Suprema.
