
Pet platform company BMSMILE announced that it has made a strategic investment in pet AI home care solution startup 11Liter and is making a full-fledged foray into the pet healthcare market. This investment is expected to be a significant turning point for Pesrum, a pet brand commerce powerhouse, to internalize its AI technology and accelerate the expansion of its platform business.
This investment is based on a change in BMSMILE's business strategy. BMSMILE, which successfully launched the pet brand 'Pesroom' and established the first vertical integration system in the pet industry, has been recording rapid growth in various fields such as research, manufacturing, distribution, marketing, and overseas corporations. In particular, based on differentiated product competitiveness, it has been attracting the most visitors to the Shanghai Pet Fair and achieving the top spot on Amazon Japan, making a mark in the global market. Recently, it has been expanding its business area by introducing an innovative business model based on membership subscription services.
BMSMILE's strategy is to secure AI technology through this 11-liter investment and evolve into a platform that provides customized pet care services by accumulating pet health data. It is the aspiration to go beyond a commerce platform that simply sells products and leap forward as an 'AI-based pet healthcare platform' that determines the health status of pets and provides optimal solutions.
11Liter is a startup that possesses AI technology that determines the health status of companion animals with a single smartphone photo. Vision AI analyzes the presence and progression of progressive diseases in companion animals within 3 seconds. Currently, it provides AI health check services for four diseases, including patellar dislocation diagnosis assistance software, which has received the first animal medical device product approval in Korea, periodontal disease, obesity, and cataracts. It also provides customized home care solutions, such as recommending nutritional supplements or functional feed based on the analysis results, or providing additional discounts when signing up for insurance.
Through this investment, 11Liter plans to actively utilize Pesroom’s strong brand awareness and marketing capabilities to increase awareness of AI health checks and PB products, and support more pet owners to easily and conveniently manage their pets’ health. In addition, the goal is to accelerate overseas market entry by utilizing Pesroom’s global network and provide AI-based pet healthcare solutions to pet owners around the world.
