Talos Invests $2.5 Billion in New Manufacturing Facility to Enter Defense Industry

Talos , a lithium secondary battery specialist for the defense industry, announced on the 13th that it is investing in manufacturing facilities to expand its existing secondary battery and power supply business and enter new defense businesses. The investment amount is approximately 2.5 billion won, and this investment is equivalent to 20% of Talos' annual sales for 2023.

Due to recent business expansion, Talos is having difficulty meeting demand with existing manufacturing facilities alone, so it is necessary to build a new manufacturing facility. It also plans to maximize efficiency with existing manufacturing facilities and more than double its production capacity (capacity).

With this investment, Talos plans to invest additional resources in research and development (R&D), with the goal of accelerating the development of new products and establishing a system that can respond quickly to market changes.

“This investment in a new manufacturing facility is a strategic choice for the expansion of our existing business and entry into the new defense industry business,” said Chae Jae-ho, CEO of Talos. “Through this, we expect to strengthen our competitiveness in the market and provide better products to our customers.”

He continued, “Expanding the facilities will have a positive impact, such as revitalizing the local economy by creating new jobs,” adding, “Talos will make a bigger leap forward through sustainable growth.”
