Startup Promotion Agency and Air Liquide Korea Sign Business Agreement

The Korea Institute for Startups & Entrepreneurship Development (KIDD) (President Yoo Jong-pil) announced on the 7th that it discussed cooperative measures to support startups with Kyung-won Cho, Director of Startup Policy at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and Nicolas Poirian, CEO of Air Liquide Korea (hereinafter referred to as Air Liquide), at the Global Startup Center (GSC) in Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and signed a business agreement to jointly foster startups in the eco-friendly energy sector through the operation of a global corporate collaboration program.

Founded in 1902, Air Liquide is a global leader in industrial gases. It is driving innovation in hydrogen energy, secondary batteries, and gas analysis, and is committed to developing technologies for the transition from fossil fuels to eco-friendly and renewable energy. It also operates active startup incubation programs, including the Deep Tech Startup Incubation Program (ACCELAIR).

Through this interview and business agreement, the two organizations promised to provide various startup support programs to startups and help innovative companies become competitive on the global stage. In particular, they will utilize Air Liquide’s global network and infrastructure to support startups in eco-friendly energy fields such as hydrogen energy and secondary batteries to achieve technological improvement and business growth.

This business agreement includes mutual cooperation measures including joint discovery of startups and support for their growth, such as ▲recruitment and selection of excellent startups ▲support for the development of startup products and services and technological advancement ▲support for startups to enter the global market ▲establishment of a foundation for mutual information exchange and cooperation to support other startups.

Nicolas Poirien, CEO, said, “We are very pleased to be working with the Startup & Entrepreneurship Development Institute to provide opportunities for collaboration with Korean startups and support their overseas expansion. Through this agreement, we will do our best to help Korean startups establish a successful foothold in the global market.”

President Yoo Jong-pil said, “Through this business agreement, we have laid the foundation for supporting startups in the domestic energy sector,” and “The Startup & Entrepreneurship Development Institute will spare no support to enable capable startups to lead global innovation and advance into overseas markets through collaboration with global corporations.”

Kyung-won Cho, Director General of Startup Policy, said, “It is very meaningful that the Korean government is pursuing cooperation with Air Liquide, a global leader in the energy sector, as it is making all-out efforts to foster promising startups in new industries,” and emphasized, “The Korean government will continue to expand support so that innovative startups can grow on the global stage.”
