BHI has succeeded in securing another key facility order for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 of the nuclear power plant. BHI announced through a public notice on the 7th that it had been selected as the successful bidder to supply the 'condenser (CON) and auxiliary equipment' for Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP).
The winning bid amount is 46.83 billion won, which is approximately 12.7% of last year’s sales. With this order, BHI will supply a total of four nuclear power plant auxiliary equipment (BOP) for the Shin Hanul Units 3 and 4 project, and the accumulated order amount secured has increased to approximately 150 billion won.
Previously, BHI had won orders for three items, including stainless steel liners (SSLW), containment plate (CLP), and containment piping penetrations (CPP), and with the addition of multiple units this time, it has further solidified its position in the nuclear power plant equipment sector.
The condenser is a key facility that cools the steam discharged from the steam turbine and converts it into condensate, which increases the efficiency of the power plant and allows the recycling of pure water. BHI has successfully exported a total of three condensers to Vogtle Nuclear Power Plant Unit 3 in Georgia, USA through Toshiba in 2011, including Shinwol Units 1 and 2 in Korea, and has accumulated numerous supply records both domestically and internationally.
A BHI official emphasized, “Our excellent technological prowess, global export references, and thorough delivery compliance capabilities were highly evaluated, which allowed us to succeed in winning the order even in the highly competitive multiple unit field,” and “Securing four items out of our seven BOP product portfolio is a very meaningful achievement.”
He continued, “We will do our best to secure orders for the remaining items going forward,” adding, “We will successfully complete the Shin Hanul 3 & 4 project and actively expand business opportunities in overseas nuclear power plant markets.”
Meanwhile, BOP refers to all components of a power plant except for major main equipment such as reactors, and is commonly applied to not only large nuclear power plants but also next-generation nuclear power plants such as small modular reactors (SMRs). Based on its advanced technological prowess in related fields, BHI plans to produce meaningful results in the global market.
