Kakao Ventures , an ultra-early-stage specialized venture capital firm, announced that it will hold a beauty seminar for cosmetics brand officials in collaboration with beauty branding agency Woods Studio in Myeongdong on the 8th.
This seminar is designed to discuss investors’ perspectives on K-beauty brands and the early indie brand success formula from various perspectives. There will be a networking session following the lectures by investment reviewers and beauty branding experts. The event is expected to be attended by approximately 50 beauty brand representatives, practitioners, and investors.
Hye-won Ahn, a senior researcher in charge of IT service investment at Kakao Ventures, opens the discussion with the topic of 'Investment 101 from VC'. With K-beauty recently gaining influence in the global market and recording the largest cosmetics export amount ever last year, she talks about how early-stage indie brands should understand and utilize investment capital.
In the second lecture, Seo-young Choi, CEO of Woods Studio, will present on ‘Small Brand Branding Methods.’ CEO Choi worked as the COO of vegan beauty brand Arencia and the brand manager of CJ Olive Young, and is currently the CEO of Woods Studio, working with various brands. She plans to share the brand growth equation based on her high level of understanding of the industry value chain, from establishing beauty brand strategies to product planning, development, and distribution.
Details about the beauty seminar on the day will be available on Kakao Ventures’ official YouTube and Brunch channels in March.
Choi Seo-young, CEO of Woozstudio, said, “At a time when it has become important for beauty brands to go beyond simple products and establish themselves as experiences and values, we will continue to create meaningful spaces for the growth and development of K-beauty.” She added, “I hope this will become a place where we can share practical insights with beauty brand officials and for more beauty brands to establish their own unique identities.”
Ahn Hye-won, a senior judge at Kakao Ventures, said, “Beauty brands are advancing beyond the domestic market and into the global market, but information asymmetry between early-stage indie brands and investment capital still exists.” She added, “I hope that through this seminar where people involved in the beauty ecosystem gather, we can share rich opinions and create an ecosystem where we can grow together.”
