Korea Software Industry Association establishes AI Policy Cooperation Committee

The Korea Software Industry Association (Chairman Cho Jun-hee, KOSA) announced on the 5th that it has established the 'AI Policy Cooperation Committee' under its jurisdiction to lead the AI industry and support related policies, and appointed LG AI Research Center Director Bae Kyung-hoon as the first chairman.

KOSA operates six committees under the association for each purpose to establish business plans and promote business that reflect the opinions of member companies.

This AI Policy Cooperation Committee was established to strengthen the AI competitiveness of domestic software companies and establish a cooperation system as the influence of AI technology development expands across industries.

The AI Policy Cooperation Committee plans to present industry opinions on the government’s AI policy and promote the introduction and use of AI technology in the industry. It will also prepare policy measures for the development of the AI ecosystem, such as AI ethics, legal system improvement, and human resource development.

In addition to establishing a new committee, KOSA changed the name and function of the existing Service Innovation Committee to the ‘Innovation Startup Activation Committee’ to strengthen support for startups and investment activation, and appointed Kang Jin-mo, Chairman of ITcen, as the committee chairman.

In addition, the following existing committee chairs were appointed: ▲WiseNut CEO Kang Yong-seong (reappointed) to the Policy and System Committee, ▲Jiransoft CEO Park Seung-ae to the ESG Committee, ▲Megazone Cloud Chairman Lee Ju-wan (reappointed) to the Overseas Expansion Committee, and ▲Eastsoft CEO Jeong Sang-won to the Human Resources Development and Job Creation Committee.

Chairman Cho Jun-hee said, “We will focus on strengthening the AI competitiveness of the software industry and activating the startup ecosystem through the AI Policy Cooperation Committee and the Innovation Startup Activation Committee,” adding, “We will support the two committees to become the core driving force of Korea’s industrial development.”

The six newly appointed chairmen will have the same term of office as the 20th president, Jo Jun-hee.
