Minister Oh Young-joo of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (hereinafter referred to as the MSS) visited Jeju Special Self-Governing Province on February 28 to inspect the preparations for the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting.
As our country is hosting the 2025 APEC Summit, the SME Ministerial Meeting, one of the sectoral ministerial meetings, will be chaired by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and held in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province for five days from September 1 to September 5.
Minister Oh Young-joo visited the Jeju International Convention Center where the ministerial meeting will be held, inspected the venue and auxiliary facilities, and asked the relevant officials to thoroughly prepare so that the ministers and delegations participating in the meeting will not experience any inconvenience. He also visited Jeju Beer and O’Sulloc Tea Museum, which are candidate sites for on-site visits for each member delegation, and personally inspected the on-site visit program where they can learn about the innovativeness of our small and medium-sized enterprises and experience Korea’s traditional culture.
Minister Oh Young-joo said, “Jeju Special Self-Governing Province not only preserves beautiful natural scenery and Korea’s traditional culture, but also has innovative small and medium-sized enterprises with local identity, making it the optimal location to hold the APEC SME Ministerial Meeting.” He added, “With the start of the 2025 APEC in earnest with the first Senior Officials’ Meeting this week (February 24-March 9, Gyeongju), we will thoroughly prepare for the SME Ministerial Meeting and use it as an opportunity to widely publicize the innovation and excellence of our SMEs.”
