Carbon accounting platform specialist Kuntec announced on the 28th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with Vinatech , a specialist in eco-friendly energy storage devices such as 'supercapacitors' and hydrogen fuel cell materials and parts, to jointly respond to global carbon regulations.
Vinatech has established a product carbon footprint (PCF) calculation system based on PlanESG, a carbon emissions calculation solution from Kuntech. Vinatech plans to advance the system through continuous technological cooperation and proactively respond to global carbon regulations.
Recently, Vinatech received a request from a global client to disclose carbon emissions information across the entire supply chain of its products. Vinatech had difficulty calculating accurate carbon emissions for hundreds of different products and new production items, but by introducing Kuntec’s ‘PlanESG’, it was able to establish a product carbon emissions calculation system that can be systematically and continuously managed.
Through this agreement, Vinatech can quickly calculate carbon emissions based on more precise data, and manage and provide carbon emissions data required in the global market in real time. Kuntek supported the automatic collection of production data in real time by linking the product carbon emissions management function of 'PlanESG' with Vinatech's internal manufacturing management system (MES). In addition, a customized format was applied so that the carbon emission source data managed by Vinatech could be uploaded to the solution in its existing format.
'PlanESG' is an ESG data platform developed by Kuntec that supports small and medium-sized enterprises in responding to non-financial information disclosure requirements represented by environment, society, and governance (ESG). This platform is designed to respond to various climate change compliances such as △ ESG sustainability report writing △ supply chain management for Scope 3 (including indirect emissions generated from logistics, product use, and disposal processes with partners other than product production) △ response to CBAM (Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism)-related requirements of overseas head offices in Europe, the U.S., etc.
“Small and medium-sized enterprises with a high proportion of exports are finding it difficult to respond to the Carbon Border Adjustment Scheme (CBAM), global supply chain management, and ESG regulations,” said Bang Hyuk-jun, CEO of Kuntec. “By adding a product carbon emissions management function to the PlanESG platform, Kuntec will support customers to respond quickly and accurately to various international standards and regulations at a reasonable cost.”
