Runit subsidiary Volpara appoints Craig Headfield as new CEO

Medical artificial intelligence (AI) company Lunit (CEO: Beom-Seok Seo) announced on the 26th that it has appointed Craig Hadfield, former Chief Customer and Financial Officer of Volpara Health (hereinafter referred to as Volpara), as the new CEO of its subsidiary. Headfield will lead Volpara starting April 1, 2025.

The new CEO, Headfield, is a certified public accountant with a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance degree and a Higher Diploma in Accounting from the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa. He joined Volpara in 2016 and has played a key role in Volpara’s growth over the past nine years, serving as Financial Controller (FC), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and Chief Customer Finance Officer (CCFO).

Prior to joining Volpara, he worked at global accounting firms such as Ernst & Young (EY) and Deloitte, and is a global finance expert who has worked in South Africa, New Zealand, the Bahamas, and the United States.

After joining Volpara, he transformed the revenue structure to a subscription software (SaaS) model, leading to growth such as an increase of more than 30 times from annual sales of $1 million (about 1.4 billion won) to $30 million (about 43 billion won), and a more than 4 times increase in market capitalization from 70 million Australian dollars (about 63.8 billion won) to 300 million Australian dollars (about 273.4 billion won) during the same period.

In particular, based on his experience in successfully completing numerous mergers and acquisitions (M&As), he played a pivotal role in Runit's acquisition of Volpara and is currently leading the post-acquisition integration (PMI) work, so he is evaluated as a candidate to continue the stable management of the company as the new CEO.

Seo Beom-seok, CEO of Runit, said, “The new CEO Headfield is the person who most deeply understands Volpara’s growth process and business, and is the optimal leader for the stable integration and synergy creation of the two companies.” He added, “We expect that through his expertise in finance and M&A, the two companies will achieve innovative results in the global medical AI market.”

Craig Headfield, the new CEO of Volpara, said, “Based on Volpara’s accumulated understanding and expertise in the healthcare and U.S. businesses, we will focus on expanding our global influence together with Lunit.” He added, “In particular, we will strive to realize the business synergies between the two companies at an early stage so that we can provide better value to global medical AI customers.”
