SDT Signs Quantum Technology Cooperation Agreement with Malaysia's MIMOS

Quantum standard technology specialist SDT announced on the 26th that at the 'MIMOS Quantum Day 2025' held at the MIMOS headquarters in Malaysia, it officially declared the establishment of the Malaysia Quantum Intelligence Center (QIC) and signed a cooperation agreement (Teaming Agreement) in the field of quantum technology between SDT and MIMOS.

This agreement is the first quantum technology cooperation agreement signed between a domestic company and the Malaysian government, and aims to improve Malaysia’s technological capabilities and support industrialization and research and development (R&D) in various fields such as quantum computing, software, security, and cryogenic technology. In addition, considering that Malaysia is emerging as a data center hub for global big tech companies, it is expected to be an important opportunity to establish a foundation for cooperation with overseas customers in the quantum technology field.
SDT plans to supply the first 20-qubit superconducting quantum computer to QIC in Malaysia in 2025 in cooperation with Anyon Technologies. It also plans to build a system with over 1,000 qubits by 2030 and continuously supply and install advanced quantum equipment such as ultra-low temperature coolers. After establishing a QKD (quantum cryptography key distribution) experimental environment in Malaysia by 2025, actual network operation is scheduled to begin at QIC in 2026.

In addition, quantum software and human resource development programs between the two countries will begin in earnest. SDT and MIMOS plan to promote various programs such as hosting a quantum application showcase targeting the financial sector, training in quantum software development/operation and cryogenic maintenance, and joint participation in the IEEE quantum data and machine learning workshop.
The agreement was signed with the attendance of key figures from both countries, including the Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, the CEO of MIMOS, and officials from the Korean Embassy in Malaysia. At the event, a superconductor-based quantum computer mock-up and various quantum technology products jointly developed by SDT and Anyon Technologies were exhibited. Malaysian government and research institute officials showed great interest in the quantum technology products developed by SDT.

“We are grateful to SDT for their important role in the rapid commercialization of the SDT-MIMOS ecosystem,” said Satshkryeom Bong, CEO of MIMOS. “Through this collaboration, we hope to expand the quantum industry ecosystem and create a virtuous cycle with the accumulated data.”

Yoon Ji-won, CEO of SDT, said, “I am very pleased that this agreement will provide an opportunity to strengthen Korea-Malaysia quantum technology cooperation and play a leading role in the global quantum ecosystem,” and emphasized, “We will faithfully fulfill our role as a bridge connecting industries and research institutes in both countries and strengthen our leadership in the global quantum industry market through innovative quantum technology development and strategic partnerships.”
