Women in Innovation (WIN), a non-profit organization comprised of female corporate executives, held its regular general meeting on February 25 and announced that it had elected Kim Mi-jin, Executive Director of HP Korea, as its fourth president.
WIN is a network of female executives from domestic and global companies, and has been carrying out various activities to strengthen the capabilities of female leaders, foster the next generation of female leaders, and create a diverse and inclusive organizational culture in companies.
The new CEO, Kim Mi-jin, is an IT expert who graduated from Yonsei University’s Department of Computer Science and has worked in various positions at multinational IT companies for 30 years. She started her career as a programmer in the IT department of a domestic company and moved to the multinational company HP. She has worked in the Asian service division, solution and product marketing, advertising/PR marketing, technical sales, and strategic planning, and is currently serving as the executive director of HP Korea’s Enterprise Sales Division. In particular, she successfully led the HP spin-off project in 2015 and HP’s Samsung Printing Division M&A project in 2017, solidifying her position in the global market.
Chairman Kim served as the Chairwoman of HP's Women's Committee from 2011 to 2012 and joined WIN in 2012. Since 2015, she has been leading the WIN Forum while serving as the Director and Division Manager of the WIN Organization Development Division. The WIN Forum is a public forum where companies can share related topics and cases to promote sustainable growth of companies by expanding female leaders within the company. Since 2020, the WIN Awards, which announces 'Excellent Gender Equality Companies' selected by WIN, have been held in conjunction with the Forum.
WIN will continue to support increasing the ratio of female executives in listed companies, which is still low compared to our country’s international status, and to enable more female leaders to participate in corporate management and decision-making processes. In order to strengthen the capabilities of WIN members, we will expand the Leadership Academy that was launched, conduct various programs such as member seminars, and support next-generation conferences and systematic mentoring programs so that female mid-level managers in companies can grow into next-generation leaders. In addition, in order to inform each company of the value of diversity, which has become a key element of sustainable corporate management in the era of aging population and low birth rate, and to support the creation of an inclusive organizational culture, we plan to expand the WIN forum and awards.
Chairman Kim emphasized, “Expanding women’s leadership is not simply about improving women’s rights, but is an essential element for sustainable growth and innovation in companies and society,” and “WIN will continue to work with companies to create real change and impact as an organization so that they can have stronger competitiveness based on diversity and inclusion.” He also said, “To this end, we will support female leaders to contribute to the growth and development of our society and companies through continuous capacity building and networking of members, and next-generation leader training activities.”
