Kumho Electric and Korea Sign Sign MOU

Kumho Electric is joining hands with Korea Sign to enter the transparent LED display (Digital Signage Integrated System) market.

According to Kumho Electric on the 25th, the two companies signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) centered on cooperation in next-generation transparent LED display technology and sales. Kumho Electric, a lighting specialist, is securing future growth momentum through endless business diversification.

Unlike existing billboards, transparent LED displays provide a sense of space that blends naturally with the surrounding environment through a transparent screen. They can be produced in various shapes and sizes, allowing for more appealing digital content delivery, and they also feature the ability to create creative productions when installed in a flexible curved shape. This product conforms to the recent social trend of ESG (environment, society, governance), and is also energy efficient, reducing power consumption by more than 50% compared to existing billboards.

A Kumho Electric official said, “Transparent LED displays provide clear visual performance along with energy-saving effects. Buildings that install this product will be able to establish themselves as landmarks representing the area by improving the overall appearance and space utilization.” He added, “As companies are showing interest in groundbreaking video marketing and artistic and dynamic digital content is spreading, transparent LED displays will maximize the effects.”

Kumho Electric is a leading lighting company in Korea that celebrated its 90th anniversary this year. It is also a company that has been carrying out energy saving projects for buildings, offices, and large indoor spaces by launching the 'Lightning Pyo Smart Mesh System' starting in 2023. The system is a technology that checks the power values of various spaces in a building in real time through a PC control program and minimizes power wasted in unnecessary spaces.

Korea Sign Co., Ltd. has been in the indoor and outdoor display business since 2010, and has the capability to design, plan, develop, and produce. With 15 patents including energy-saving modules and strengths in media art production, it has carried out the largest transparent LED sign project in Korea at Alpha Dome City Culture Valley and the Busan Museum One (Wolseok Art Hall) project. In addition, the company has proven its technological prowess through various supply history such as COEX, POSCO, and department stores.

A Kumho Electric official said, “We have planned a two-way sales strategy as our sales target and space overlap with those of Korea Sign Co., Ltd. Through this business agreement, we expect that the two companies will be able to create great synergy effects and lead the display-related market.”
