Global motion technology company Schaeffler Korea announced on the 24th that it conducted the 'GREEN Earth Children's Environmental Education Project' for approximately 60 elementary school students in three institutions in the Incheon and Gyeonggi Siheung areas, including Incheon Boramae Children's Center, Siheung Geomoji Children's Center, and Misan Children's Center, from the 17th to the 21st.
The purpose of this project was to provide education to vulnerable children to raise their awareness of the importance of environmental protection and to foster the habit of separating waste. In addition, it was designed to support their economic independence by having women who had taken a break from their careers participate as professional instructors.
The program contents include: △Raising awareness of global environmental issues △Social benefits of separating waste △Proper waste separation methods in daily life △Learning through play and waste separation practice △Creative educational activities using upcycling art, etc., designed to help children cultivate ecological sensitivity and community awareness. The participating children had time to learn and practice the importance of environmental protection while creating a ‘Green Earth Picture Book of My Dream.’
One child who participated in the program said, “I was surprised to learn that picture books are thrown away as trash,” and added, “It was fun to imagine and create a clean Earth using picture books that would otherwise become trash, and I will practice separating waste at home as well.”
A Schaeffler Korea official said, “We plan to continue to provide environmental education programs through various regions and organizations in the future to spread interest in the environment.”
