
The event, hosted and sponsored by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the Korea Institute for Startup & Entrepreneurship Development, and Gyeongsangnam-do and organized by the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center , was held for two days from the 18th to the 19th at the Grand Josun Busan Hotel to present best practices of participating companies and the results of collaboration programs with large companies (Samsung Heavy Industries).
The Startup Leap Package is a program that provides business capital and support for growth to startups that have been in business for 3 to 7 years, so that they can stably settle into the market and scale up.
Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center recruited companies to participate in the '2024 Startup Leap Package' through two tracks: parallel loan and collaboration with large corporations (Samsung Heavy Industries), and selected a total of 25 companies. Companies selected through the parallel loan program were supported for 8 months, and companies selected through the collaboration with large corporations (Samsung Heavy Industries) were supported for 10 months.
This '2024 Startup Leap Package Performance Sharing Meeting' was attended by representatives of implementing companies, Samsung Heavy Industries officials, officials from related organizations, and Gyeongnam Province Startup Support officials. The event was held in the following order: ▲2024 Startup Leap Package Beneficiary Company Performance Presentation and Awards ▲Lecture and Talk Concert ▲Networking between Startups and Large Corporations.
Companies presented the achievements they created during the 2024 Startup Leap Package support period, and were evaluated by experts with a focus on task performance results, growth strategies, and investment potential.
The Grand Prize in the Excellent Task Performance category went to ▲SLM Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Young-jun), and the Excellence Awards went to ▲Infosys Co., Ltd. (CEO Tak Jeong-soo) and ▲Yumed Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Kang-woo). A total of two companies were selected as excellent program participants: ▲Nevesys Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Seong-jin) and ▲Elecfield Future Co., Ltd. (CEO Lee Han-seong).
Park Young-jun, CEO of SLM Co., Ltd., which won the grand prize, said, “While participating in the 2024 Startup Leap Package Support Project, I received a lot of help with scaling up, such as business technology advancement, patent acquisition, and global market entry through specialized programs such as IP/certification and Global Brit G in addition to commercialization funds, which helped me grow a lot. I hope that there will be a variety of follow-up support programs, such as networking events for the graduating companies that I participated in together.”
Also, on the second day, five companies that carried out large-scale collaborative projects and Master Choi Du-jin and researchers in charge from Samsung Heavy Industries participated and had a meaningful time presenting the projects performed by each company, reporting on mentoring activities, and discussing difficulties and future cooperation plans.
Among these participating companies, ▲I-POP (on-site safety management drone) and ▲TOZ (remote real-time ship maintenance support service) presented certificates of appreciation for their excellent performance in a collaborative program with Samsung Heavy Industries and discussed future directions for collaboration. In addition, ▲3D Muse (AI-based multilingual safety education automatic generation system) ▲SLM (hull surface inspection robot and management platform) ▲Smart Shipbuilding Engineering (portable wireless character marking system) are also in discussions with the goal of generating results in 2026.
Samsung Heavy Industries Master Choi Du-jin said, “I am very pleased to have discovered many tasks that are of practical help to large corporations and startups,” and added, “We will spare no effort in investing and supporting more so that follow-up support through continuous aftercare can be maintained and expanded every year to provide more opportunities for mutual growth.”
An official from the Gyeongnam Creative Economy Innovation Center said, “The Startup Leap Package goes beyond simple commercialization funding support and provides various support measures to help startups grow in the market. We will continue to work hard to provide diverse support in the future.”
