DayOne Company, Upstage and AI Talent Development

Fast Campus , a corporate-in-house company (CIC) of Day One Company (CEO Kangmin Lee), a leading domestic adult education content company, announced on the 20th that it will hold the Kernel Academy AI Bootcamp with AI specialist Upstage to foster talent that can be employed at AI companies.

According to the 2024 Business Trends Index jointly surveyed by Microsoft (MS) and LinkedIn, 77% of leaders in Korean corporate organizations responded that they 'prefer applicants with AI capabilities over those with experience.' This figure is higher than the global average (71%), but in reality, the supply of talent with AI capabilities is severely insufficient compared to the demand.

Accordingly, Fast Campus is operating a boot camp in collaboration with Upstage to cultivate practical AI talents that meet the needs of the industry. This program has produced over 900 graduates so far, and is a proven educational course with an employment rate of 86% within 6 months of completion.

The Kernel Academy AI Bootcamp is a 7-month program consisting of basic AI lectures (2 months), advanced projects and AI competitions (2 months), and AI practice tracks (3 months). The core of this course is the 3-stage deep learning track learning method designed by current AI engineers. The curriculum, divided into ▲Employment Track ▲Entrepreneurship Track ▲Thesis Track, provides a customized learning path that matches the final goals of the student. While existing courses were focused on theory, Kernel Academy focuses on fostering talents with actual service development capabilities and business insights.

Another strength of Kernel Academy is the internship program linked with domestic AI companies. Graduates complete practical skills by participating in real projects for up to two months at promising AI companies such as Upstage, Markcloud, and Onoma AI. This is a strategic design that takes into account the characteristics of the AI industry, which prefers career positions in the hiring market.

To improve the quality of education, top experts in the AI field will also participate in large numbers. The instructors will pass on the latest AI trends and know-how through more than 20 special lectures, and will verify their skills through 7 AI competitions designed exclusively for Kernel Academy students. In addition, specialized mentors in each field will provide customized feedback for groups and individuals, leading to employment.

Applicants for this boot camp will go through a three-stage selection process. Applicants will be selected through a 1:1 consultation or non-face-to-face recorded interview after pre-registration, and the final successful applicants will receive full tuition support with the Tomorrow Learning Card. The training will be held from March 24 to October 31, and the application deadline is March 9.

“With the rapid development of AI technology, the demand for talent in the industry continues to increase, but there is a shortage of talent that can be immediately deployed to practical work,” said Kangmin Lee, CEO of DayOne Company. “Kernel Academy will resolve the mismatch between companies and talent by providing actual AI service development experience, and will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the AI industry in Korea.”

Meanwhile, Fast Campus provides an additional 6-month online lecture voucher worth approximately 30 million won to trainees who meet the completion criteria to support continuous learning even after the boot camp.
