Biomeates Signs MOU with POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center

BiomAtz, a company specializing in microbiome complex strain design solutions, announced on the 20th that it signed a business agreement (MOU) with the POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center for joint collaboration in the field of “microbiome immunotherapy research and development.”

The signing ceremony held at the POSTECH Bio Open Innovation Center (BOIC) was attended by Biomeates CEO Yong-Kyu Kim, POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center Director Seung-Woo Lee, and other key researchers. The two sides agreed to cooperate in the field of microbiome immunotherapy.

Through this agreement, the two institutions plan to carry out the following: △microbiome research exchange and inter-institutional cooperation, △microbiome technology consulting, △academic exchange and cooperation for fostering excellent talent in the microbiome field, △joint use and support of microbiome research facilities and equipment, etc.

The POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center was established in 2022 as a center selected for the Ministry of Education's Basic Science Research Capacity Enhancement Project. It receives support from Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang City and has germ-free animal facilities and flow cytometry separation and analysis equipment (FACS) essential for microbiome research. The center is expanding support for microbiome research in cooperation with domestic academia, industry, and research institutes.

Lee Seung-woo, director of the POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center, said, “Recently, the importance of complex strain composition has been highlighted in microbiome therapeutics research,” and “Through joint research with Biomeates, which possesses AI-based complex strain design technology, we will be able to suggest a new direction for microbiome therapeutics research.”

Kim Yong-gyu, CEO of Biomeates, said, “Understanding the interaction between microorganisms and the human immune system is very important in the research and development of microbiome therapeutics,” and “We will accelerate the development of therapeutics and create successful cases by utilizing the excellent human resources and facilities of the POSTECH Microbiome Core Research Support Center.”
